Control your replication
Domino server clusters are an excellent way to provide for
failover in the event of a server break down. But they are useless
if the servers are not kept in sync. With RepCAT you can
pro-actively monitor your clusters or even replicated servers.
RepCAT can also take care of creating replica's on all servers, to
make sure that all databases are available on the failover
server.
Is my Cluster doing well
You can tell if a server needs more cluster replicators by
watching a pair of stats that are automatically generated and kept
in StatRep.nsf. Check the SecondsOnQueue (the total time, in
seconds, that the last database replicated spent waiting) and the
WorkQueueDepthCurrent (number of databases awaiting replication).
The max parameter is an indicator of how bad things got. The
averages vary, but are important trending indicators.
Getting these stats is a pain. You need to open the console, and
type: Show stat replica.cluster.* for each server in the
joint.
These actions are time consuming. Administrators have better things
to do.
The Solution
The Replication Cluster Analyser Tool (RepCAT) is made for this
issue. Databases are kept in sync for you. Create a new database,
and RepCAT will update the cluster. When problems arise: RepCAT
will warn you actively by e-mail. With RepCAT you will have an
instant overview telling you which databases are not in sync. This
overview is helpfull in determining if a server needs more cluster
replicators, or in analysing replication problems.
Time Saving
Choosing for RepCat means saving time. What used to take hours,
now takes minutes. Open RepCat and see how your Cluster is doing.
No console commands neccessary.
Releases
RepCat is enhanced for new or updated versions of Domino.
